At heart, he is more of a composer of instrumental music, says Fazıl Say. Fortunately, this has not made him shy away from singing. As part of his residency at the Schlossfestspiele, Say, together with Serenad Bağcan, Volker Hürsever and Ferit Odman, will give the European premiere of his song cycle »Dünya Anne« (»World Mother«), combining elements of jazz, pop, Turkish folklore and classical music. To mark the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, he has set eleven poems by important female poets from the country to music, which deal with themes and events from the history of the Republic and give equal space to worries, inner struggles and the desire for peace. »The light of tomorrow, what are you waiting for? [...] To many more centuries,« translates the hymn, which sends us off into the evening full of hope.

This event is part of Fazıl Say's artist residency and is available together with »Fazıl Say Latenight« as a combined ticket at a discounted price.
