Volkan Hürsever

Volkan Hürsever first discovered his passion for music through jazz. Born and raised in Istanbul, he studied double bass at Mimar Sinan University and completed his master's degree at Haliç University. Beside many other concerts he performed at Istanbul International Jazz Festival along with Roy Haynes, Kenny Garret, Nicholas Payton and Dave Kikovski, followed by a joint European tour together. Hürsever has also worked for a long time with internationally renowned musicians such as Alan Harris, Laverne Buttler, Marion Cowings, Billy James, Harvey Thompson and Clifford Jarvis. In 2009, the double bassist joined the well-known Turkish folk band »Incesaz«. In the same year, his first solo album, »Hediye«, was released by A.K. Music Corporation. In addition to his engagements in numerous jazz bands, teaches at the Modern Music Academy in Istanbul.
