What is the connection between dance and democracy? If you are a dance enthusiast and prick up your ears at this question, our workshop offer at the Karlskaserne Art Centre is just right for you. Over three hours, dancers from the company will give you an essential insight into Sasha Waltz's choreography »In C«. She has translated the open structure and the 53 musical figures from Terry Riley's composition of the same name into movement. The result is a modular system of 53 movement figures for a structured improvisation that allows individual creative freedom while at the same time relating to the group - a democratic dance practice. »It's about making decisions alone and together, networking, listening, supporting each other, growing together, giving each other space, sensing what is needed, what you can do on stage for the benefit of the whole community and leaving no one behind«, says Sasha Waltz about the project. As part of the workshops, you are invited to learn and playfully try out the concept and the various movements.
