Lisa Pottstock

Director

Lisa Pottstock, director and librettist, is convinced that music and language are inseparable. In addition to her philosophy studies at the University of Leipzig, she trained to become a choral director, followed by her work with the Mayröcker Singkompanie. Since 2018, she has been focusing on music theatre directing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. In 2021 she wrote the libretto for the opera »MELUSINE. Was machst du am Samstag?« (»MELUSINE. What are you doing on Saturday?«), which addresses the feminist and queer struggle for bodily self-determination. Together with the composer Catalina Rueda, she received the inaugural Reinhold Otto Mayer Prize for this work. For her philosophical essay »Atmen muss ich sowieso« (»I have to breathe anyway«), she was awarded the Krista-und-Rüdiger-Warnke-Förderpreis.
