Calmus Ensemble

Elisabeth Mücksch (Soprano), Maria Kalmbach (Alto), Friedrich Bracks (Tenor), Jonathan Saretz (Baritone), Michael B. Gernert (Bass)

Homogeneity, precision, lightness, and wit – these have been the hallmarks of the Calmus Ensemble for more than 20 years. The vocal quintet inspires with a broad palette of tonal colours and imaginative programmes that bear witness to its passionate joy in making music. Influenced by the tradition of the Leipzig masters, the Calmus Ensemble's repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to contemporary music. Thus, composition commissions to Paul Moravec, Mia Makaroff, and Harald Banter, among others, have just as much a place as romantic concert programmes and arrangements in the pop, folk, and jazz genres. The singers have released more than 20 CDs to date, including the »Bach-Arkaden« with the lautten compagney BERLIN. In 2022, the ensemble has completed a generational change while successfully maintaining its unmistakably homogeneous »Calmus sound«.
