Gerard Bouwhuis

Pianist

The Dutch pianist Gerard Bouwhuis describes himself as a »fan of complicated music«. After studying piano at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where he now teaches contemporary music himself, he embarked on a successful career as a sought-after ensemble partner of renowned artists; including pianist Cees van Zeeland, with whom Bouwhuis played together for almost 30 years, and violinist Heleen Hulst, who is his duo partner since 1998 and founded the ensemble »Nieuw Amsterdam Peil« with him in 2005. In 2003, he was awarded the Theo Bruins Prize for his extraordinary commitment to contemporary Dutch music – namely through his work with the collective »LOOS«.
