David Fray

Pianist

It's the best present his parents could have given four-year-old David Fray: a piano - although it was intended for his brother. Born in Tarbes, France, and educated at the elite Paris Conservatory, David Fray is one of the most renowned pianists of our time. He became a world star overnight when he stood in for the ailing Hélène Grimaud for two concerts in 2006. Since then, he has performed on the world's great stages - in Europe, Asia and the USA. Named »Newcomer of the Year« by BBC Music Magazine in 2008 and »Instrumentalist of the Year« by Victoires de la Musique Classique in 2010, the French pianist shines with his elegant and lyrical playing style. Fray is also flourishing with numerous CD releases, for which he was awarded twice with the ECHO Klassik.
