Musicians of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra

Matthew Truscott Concertmaster

Approximate 15 minutes

When the boundary between reality and illusion blurs, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra is involved. Known for its progressive projects, the orchestra inaugurates and 3D specialist Henrik Oppermann are opening up new perspectives in Ludwigsburg thanks to virtual reality technology. This year, Felix Mendelssohn’s music will be presented in a three-dimensional experience. With the help of VR headsets, the audience travels together with the musicians in a virtual space and into William Shakespeare’s world of fairies and enchanted love potions. While the orchestra performes Mendelssohn’s setting of Shakespeare’s »A Midsummer Night’s Dream,« the audience has the opportunity to move freely in the room. The exact location influences which nuances of the music stand out. Whether in front of the violin, next to the flute or underneath the cello – there are almost no limits to the interactive sound experience. Afterall the musicians do not remain an illusion; they will also be playing live music on-site on Saturday.

Möbelhaus Uhl will provide refreshments with a small culinary offer.

Live music on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m.
