Yuval Weinberg Musical Direction

2023 one of the most influential composers of our time will be celebrated: György Ligeti, the master of sound-surface compositions, will have turned 100 years old on May 28. The SWR Vokalensemble has recorded his most beautiful a-cappella music to mark this occasion. Besides the famous choral works «Lux aeterna« and the »Hölderlin Fantasies,« the ensemble, under the direction of Yuval Weinberg, the ensemble presents his early Hungarian choral pieces – true treasures in the style of Béla Bartók – among which there are even two world premieres. The program will end with a world premiere by another award-winning Hungarian Hungarian composer: Márton Illés. Before the concert, the composer will give insights into his own and Ligeti’s work.

Introduction at 19:00 with composer Márton Illés

A cooperation with SWR and Musikfest Stuttgart

The concert will be recorded by SWR Rundfunk and broadcast on Friday, May 26, at 8:04 p.m. in the SWR2 Evening Concert.
