Israel Galván

Dancer

The son of Sevillian flamenco dancers, Israel Galván, was born directly into the world of dance in 1973. At the age of 21, he was part of the Compañia Andaluza de Danza under the direction of Mario Maya, and already in 1998, his first creation, "¡Mira! / Los Zapatos Rojos" revolutionised the concept of flamenco. He has already won numerous prizes for his creations, which offer deep insights into cultural, political and poetic worlds. Among them are three Spanish Premios Max for best dance production, choreography and best male dancer. In 2016, Galván was appointed Officier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France. He is an Associated Artist at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris.
