Nikoloz Rachveli

Conductor

Nikoloz Rachveli is the artistic director and principal conductor of the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra. He studied composition and conducting in Tbilisi and Vienna and attended master classes with composers such as Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio, and Michael Jarrell. His works have been premiered at Carnegie Hall, Berlin's Konzerthaus, La Scala in Milan and Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie. In 2020, Rachveli created the orchestral versions of Lisa Batiashvili's album »CITY LIGHTS«, which was recorded in Berlin by the Radio Symphony Orchestra and in Tbilisi by the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra. On 11 April 2022, a marathon musical benefit concert in support of Ukraine was held under his direction at the Tbilisi Concert Hall. Rachveli is a laureate of the Rustaveli Award and a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Georgia.
