The gambist Fahmi Alqhai and his ensemble Accademia del Piacere are among the leading ensembles in the music of the 17th and early 18th centuries. His repertoire ranges from the gamba music of Italian Seicento to the French chamber music of Louis XIV’s time. In 2011, the Accademia del Piacere surprised their audience with the program »Las idas y las vueltas – a combination of flamenco music and baroque music. For »Diálogos«, the ensemble received the Giraldillo Prize for Innovation in 2016. The concerts of the Accademia del Piacere are regularly broadcast live on the European Broadcasting Union and RNE (Spanish National Radio), NDR, WDR, BR, SWR, Radio della Svizzera italiana or in the Czech Republic and featured by several television productions.
