Countertenor Benno Schachtner's interpretations are met with great enthusiasm worldwide, and so the singer is always in demand at festivals, with ensembles and conductors. His close collaboration with René Jacobs and Václav Luks is a driving force behind his artistic work. Since he was appointed professor of historical singing, Benno Schachtner has taught international singing classes at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen. Previously, he taught historical performance practice at the Mannheim State University of Music and Performing Arts. Schachtner himself first studied church music at the Detmold University of Music in the organ class of Prof. Gerhard Weinberger. More years of study followed at the Schola Cantorum in Basel with Prof. Ulrich Messthaler until 2012.
