As a two-part dance evening, the New York guest performance »THE DAY« explores traumatizing events. It all began with the composition »World to Come«, which copes with the terrible impressions of 11 September 2001. Years later, the question »What was the most important day in your life?« was added, inspiring composer David Lang and cellist Maya Beiser to write another piece. The answers to this could not be more different and reflect the multi-faceted realities of life for us humans. Together with dance legend Wendy Whelan and iconic choreographer Lucinda Childs, »THE DAY« sublimates individual and collective sensibilities and creates a meditation on individual fates and world catastrophes that touch us in equal measure.

A co-production with Théâtre de la Ville Paris, Carolina Performing Arts at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Jacob's Pillow, The Joyce Theatre New York, Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA and the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele. In cooperation with Theaterhaus Stuttgart.
