[This text has been translated electronically] Charles Sy is a 2019 graduate of The Juilliard School’s Artist Diploma in Opera Studies program and completed his BMus and MMus degrees at the University of Toronto. He has enjoyed success in leading tenor roles such as Prince Ramiro, Don Ottavio, Tamino and Nemorino. Since the season 2019/20 he has been a member of the Opernstudio at Staatsoper Stuttgart and will be joining the ensemble for the coming season. This spring, he premiered a new production of Rameau’s »Hippolyte et Aricie« with Nationaltheater Mannheim in the title role and also made his Münchner Philharmoniker debut in Stravinsky's »Pulcinella«, under Barbara Hannigan. In the summer, he joins Hannigan once again for a concert at The Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
