Hardly any solo from classical dance embodies suffering and despair as expressively as the Dying Swan, which Michel Fokine wrote for the prima ballerina Anna Pavlova in 1905. A similar pain moved Eric Gauthier in the endless limbo of the pandemic, from which he created an escape with »The Dying Swans Project«. What started small has now taken on large dimensions: 16 choreographers are developing their interpretations of the dying swan with the dancers of Gauthier Dance. By the premiere at the Ludwigsburg Festival, all 16 new creations and compositions in different styles will air on stage for the first time. With an important message behind each piece: art cannot be stopped.
